Head 'The Brunette' Moppa Shiraz 2016
The 'Brunette' vineyard is situated in the sub-region of Moppa in the northern part of the Barossa Valley. The soil type is heavy red clay, ironstone and quartz resulting in a serious wine with power and tannin. Possibly see's some viognier skins or juice in the fermentation.
The 'Brunette' is for me the archtypal new-breed Barossa Shiraz. Heady aromas of red fruits, musk, violets and spice. The palate has a rich core of voluptuous fruit with some glycerol sweetness, yet somehow finishes with definition and a wonderful acid-tannin balance.
